About Seth Evans Joinery

Nestled between the downland villages of Clapham and Patching in West Sussex, The Joinery Shop, has been a landmark on the Long Furlong Road (A280) for more than a century having been formerly part of the Dukes of Norfolk estate. Skilled craftsmen – wheelwrights, general builders, carpenters and joiners – have operated on this site during that time, and Seth Evans Joinery is privileged to have continued the tradition since 1965 specialising in individual joinery manufacturing and fine bespoke furniture.

We have an exceptionally highly skilled team of creative joiners and fine furniture makers in the workshops, including sons Matthew and Thomas Evans, thereby ensuring the continuation of the family business.

Passionate about training and passing on our skills, many young people have completed their apprenticeship at Seth Evans Joinery. During their apprenticeship they have been encouraged to enter competitions at local and national level, and have been very successful especially at ‘The Young Craftsman of the Year’ competition at The South of England Show.

All aspects of joinery are undertaken – doors, windows, staircases, in sustainable hardwoods and softwoods. Our fine bespoke furniture for every room in the home – either free-standing or fitted – is made from a wide choice of solid timber and beautiful veneers. All work is carried out to the highest standard using traditional joinery methods. Each bespoke item can be finished to your exact requirements, either in a clear or stain finish, French polish, or factory finish.

Working to clients’ and Architects’ drawings and specifications, our aim is always to give a personal first-class service. It is appreciated that clients use us because they want a superb finished article that is a little different and special, and which shows the artistic skills of the individual craftsman.

Over the years, we have built an excellent client base with repeat custom and personal recommendations. In additional to private clients, we work for local Councils, Churches, English Heritage, and national companies. Very often we are challenged with complex problems, but as a team with many years of experience between us, we are able to find the best solution to meet clients’ requirements.
